AMPA Monaco

About

The Monegasque Association for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease (AMPA) was founded in 1990 at the initiative of Michel Pastor and Doctor Michel-Yves Mourou.

Since 2009, the association has been chaired by Catherine Pastor. She is currently supported by her Vice-President, Jean-Baptiste Pastor.

Professor Alain Pesce, former head of the Monegasque geriatric care program, now retired, remains a member of the AMPA Board. His medical expertise, long-standing commitment, and in-depth knowledge of the challenges related to Alzheimer’s disease continue to enrich the association’s discussions and strategic direction.

AMPA operates primarily in the Principality of Monaco and in the surrounding towns to support research, promote the sharing of scientific knowledge, raise public awareness and support people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families.

Over the years, AMPA has developed an internationally recognized role. In particular, it has been a member of Alzheimer Europe and Alzheimer’s Disease International, actively contributing to scientific and institutional exchanges at the European and international levels.

In 2013, AMPA launched the Mediterranean Alzheimer Alliance, a structuring initiative aimed at supporting and uniting stakeholders involved in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease in the countries of the Mediterranean basin. Active until 2018, this alliance strengthened cooperation, supported the development of local initiatives, and promoted the dissemination of best practices in several countries of the region.

In this capacity, and in recognition of its actions carried out internationally, AMPA has been recognized as an international solidarity organization of Monaco .
