Staying socially active

Leading an active social life is good for your brain. Our brains are stimulated on several levels when we are in company, as we have to remember what the other person is saying and stay alert to follow the conversation, for example.

It is therefore advisable to maintain good social contacts:

    as far as possible from your home (shopping, walking, post office, etc.);

    Stay in touch

    with your family and friends

    Meet other people regularly,

    for example at a bridge club, in a walking group or simply over a cup of tea;

    Do not hesitate to get involved

    in a voluntary activity that interests you.

    Go to concerts, shows, exhibitions...;

    Get to know your neighbours, chat with the shopkeepers in your neighbourhood...

Encourage intergenerational bonds:

Maintain regular emotional contact with your grandchildren or children in your circle of friends or neighbourhood;

Share their world as much as possible (homework, games, cartoons, films, etc.).
