Music concerts for people with Alzheimer’s disease in Monaco

When we play music, it is here, now, in the present moment. When we listen to music, we feel it in our hearts. It helps regulate our mood and connect us to our emotions.

As part of World Alzheimer’s Day on 21 September 2021, and in partnership with the geriatric hospital sector in Monaco, the AMPA (Monegasque Association for Alzheimer’s Disease), chaired by Catherine Pastor, is organising music concerts for people in various Alzheimer’s facilities in Monaco – Résidence Cap Fleuri, Résidence AQuietudine and Centre Rainier III.

On Tuesday 21 September, residents of these Monegasque establishments will enjoy an afternoon of music filled with joy and happiness.

In the case of Alzheimer’s disease, music helps to reduce anxiety, confusion and agitation in patients. It often has the added benefit of bringing back memories.

Playing or listening to music can affect different aspects of memory and motor skills through the rhythm it creates. Music is a privileged means of conveying emotions and fully enjoying a moment of timeless happiness.
