World Alzheimer’s Day 2022

Screening of the film Une vie démente

To mark World Alzheimer’s Day 2022, the AMPA has organised a special screening of the film Une vie démente, directed by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni, on Tuesday 20 September 2022 at the Cinéma des Beaux-Arts – Théâtre Princesse Grace in Monaco.

The film tells the story of Alex and Noémie, a young couple whose desire to have children is disrupted by the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in Suzanne, Alex’s mother. As Suzanne’s behaviour becomes increasingly unpredictable, the roles are reversed: she gradually regresses to childhood, while the couple discovers an unexpected form of parenthood.

Through this sensitive story, Une vie démente tackles Alzheimer’s disease with rare accuracy, combining emotion, tenderness and humour, without ever denying the seriousness of the subject. The film offers a deeply human and luminous perspective on the disease, highlighting family ties, love and resilience in the face of adversity. The screening was followed by a conference-debate bringing together health and ethics professionals, extending the discussion on supporting patients and their loved ones.
